Varsity Soccer’s Stunning Start

by Julia Lebovitz on Friday, October 17th, 2014

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team is in the midst of arguably one of its best seasons yet. With a 9-0-2 record, the team is undefeated and has had multiple shutouts. Recently, the exciting victory against Lawrence Academy, the defending ISL champions, gained the team a spot in the national top 10 rankings for prep schools according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. Will Mack (III) described this win as “one of the team’s most rewarding wins.” Will also explained that he is “happy to be a part of such a hardworking team” led by Coach Chris Kane and captain Chris Lewis (I). Although the team lost a few of its top players from last year, they gained many new players who have contributed greatly to the team’s success. Jack Sheehan, a new sophomore, described the squad’s environment as “really nice [and] enthusiastic”. In addition to eight new players, the team gained four new managers—Sophia Wilson Pelton (III), Emily Grace (II), Charlie Guscott (II), and Malcom McCann (III)—who have added energy and enthusiasm to the team. Looking forward to the rest of the season, the team hopes to continue their unbeaten streak and to become ISL and New England Champs. Tough opponents like Andover and Rivers lie ahead on the schedule, but the team is ready to meet the challenge and come out victorious.
