Golf Swings for the Fences

Milton’s Golf team had a very strong season, finishing with a winning record of 14-8-2. The team was led by the strong leadership and experience of captains Scott Majowski (I) and Sam Procter (I). Procter received an ISL honorable mention at the end of the season. Coaches Jay Hackett and Chris Kane, the latter of whom won the sole Coaching Award for his work with Milton’s Soccer, Squash, and Golf teams, helped the team improve dramatically over the course of the spring season. During the final contest of the season, the extremely competitive Kingman Tournament, Milton placed a respectable fifth. Milton’s Golf team will miss its talented group of seniors, but the program can look optimistically towards the future. Although he is only a sophomore, Jonathan Chan (III) was voted as the team’s MVP and should provide a tangible boost for the team in future years. Additionally, Austin Vyas (IV) impressively qualified for the Kingman Tournament in his first year on the team and is already working hard to become one of Milton’s top golfers in future seasons. Both Vyas and Mateen Tabatabaei (IV) are promising freshman players who brought passion and dedication to the golf course this season. In recent years, the team has been propelled by young talent. Such a consistent supply of skilled players to the Golf program has led the team to have twelve or more wins in each of their past three seasons. At the end of the season, Emma Martin (II) and Matt Chea (II) were voted captains of the 2015 team. These rising seniors hope to improve on this year’s record and make a run towards becoming ISL Golf champions.
