Field Hockey Looks to Dominate
by The Milton Measure on Monday, October 22nd, 2012
On Thursday, September 27, The Milton Measure had a chance to sit down with Varsity Field Hockey co-captain, Ale Gianino. Currently a senior, Ale has high hopes for the team this year and believes that they will finish near the top of the ISL, despite many young and new players. The field hockey team currently has a record of 1-2.
What are your goals and expectations for the year?
Going into the season I had no clue what to expect. My goal is just for the team to become more experienced since we have a few new field hockey players this season. The team is very young due to the large loss of seniors last year, so we are all getting used to playing with each other. Another goal for the season is that I really want to beat Brooks, because for the past three-year we have won really close games against them; each one went into overtime.
How do your team dynamics this year compare to last year?
I think they’re a lot better this year. We do a lot more activities as a team, and the players are spread out between the grades much differently to last year when the team was predominantly seniors.
Who is the star player on the team?
Tough to say right now, so early in the season, but Delaney Flynn (I) would probably be the star on defense though.
Do you think you will beat the wolfpack in dodgeball this year?
Obviously… actually I’m not sure. We have a few softball players on our team. But so do the wolfpack, so it’ll be a tough fight.
What defines MAFH?
Our spirit!!! Because of how much fun we are, every day’s a party.
What’s your favorite part of the team.
There are just so many things that I cannot choose, but probably the people on the team. We’re just a bunch of crazy gals <3.
Does your back hurt after every game?
Surprisingly no, but our butts hurt which probably explains our great figures.
