Milton Ultimate Disc

Every year, Milton Academy’s Ultimate Disc Team is said to be a competitive and fun experience. The team features a wide range of athletes from various grades who all enjoy coming together to play the glorious sport of disc. Members of this disc team, although taking their level of competition very seriously, are also committed to enjoying their time spent on the team.
Interestingly, this sport seems to have taken the role of a lifestyle for many members of the team.
Often, regardless of the weather, students can be seen throwing the disc across the quad. Even in a complete down poor, without fail, the white discs can be seen all across campus. When posed with the question, “why do kids enjoy playing disc so much?” veteran disc player, Caleb Warren (II) responded, “Combine happy tunes, good weather, and a competitive aspect—what’s not to love?” Caleb then continued to discuss the inviting aspect of disc stating, “I think throwing a disc is just a good time all around, and it is my firm belief that anyone can learn to throw proficiently in a mere three weeks.” These aspects of ultimate disc provide for an environment that is both inviting to new players, exhilarating for fans to watch, and competitive for the veterans who have invested themselves in this game.
This year, the team opened up their season with a 15-4 victory. This type of performance is nothing short of the usual for this team. Throughout their season, one should expect nothing short of excellence from the disc team. This Tuesday the team takes on their second opponent, Newton South High School.
While some dismiss disc a notch far below varsity athletics, disc has in fact shown itself to be not only competitive, but also a rigorously technical and immensely intense experience. If given the chance, one could soon find himself enamored with the game of ultimate disc.
