Girls Basketball Midseason

Despite the injuries that have plagued the team, Girls Varsity Basketball has started the season on a strong note. Catherine Hartigan (I), team captain, and Erika Lamere (IV) are both injured.
The team is currently 7-4. On Saturday, the girls had a great win against Tabor, a team that Mr. Kahn had never beaten in his 7 seasons as head coach. They won 46-44 partially due to Alison Ward’s 7 three point jump shots.
Sam Clifford (II) emphasized how momentous the win against Tabor was because of the fact that the victory will put the team in a good position for the playoffs, and Kayla Jang (II) described the win as her “greatest victory at Milton Academy thus far.” According to Watson Leffel (I) “the team has done a much better job communicating and that communication has lead to really great defense.”
Both Watson and Sam agree that this year’s new players have been a tremendous addition to the team. The Quintin sisters have helped the team tremendously on offense. Watson described their two on one breakaways as “telepathic” and both have no trouble attacking the basket.
The team is currently on a 3 game win-streak which it will hopefully maintain and draw out. The first half of the season has been exciting and I hope to see them finish the season in the same fashion that they have started it.
