Boys Soccer Soars

This past Friday, the Milton Boy’s Soccer team suffered a tough loss against Governor’s Academy. Ryan Scarfo of Governor’s scored within the opening three minutes of the game as he managed to dribble past a couple of Mustang defenders. After the abasing goal, Milton took charge and maintained possession of the ball throughout the rest of the first half. They also created multiple scoring opportunities, but failed to find the back of the net. The second half started the same way until the 27th minute. The Mustangs had a free kick, but Governor’s was able to clear the ball, catching the Milton players off guard and finishing with a cross from Ben Stafford to Matt Karin.
Milton was able to take control of the ball throughout the rest of the half, but they were unable to finish despite their scoring opportunities. Dan Kim (II) believes “we outplayed Govs and we deserved to win, but we just couldn’t finish.”
Pablo Royo (I) suffered a tough ankle injury with fifteen minutes left in the game. He will be out for the game against Brooks, but hopes to be back for the Nobles game. Royo stated, “It was a disappointing loss because winning would have guaranteed us a .500 season.” As the Milton soccer team looks ahead, they see two tough opponents.
They will be facing the top two teams in the ISL, Nobles and Brooks, and these games will be especially difficult because Milton is missing two of their strongest defenders and team leaders, Tom Schnoor (I) and Ben Toulotte (I).
The boys could use all of the support that they can get on Nobles day, so everyone should come out and support the team.
